Siobhán is a passionate believer in the importance of having an informed and knowledgeable public when it comes to bridging the gap between cutting edge research and societal impact. She is committed to challenging the spread of misinformation through dissemination of scientific information in a clear and accessible manner and advocacy of evidence-based decision making.
Siobhán has a PhD in molecular medicine and began her career in the area of health research before broadening out into public involvement and engagement. She has more than half a decades’ experience in the area of research funding and was the coordinator for the Health Research Board’s first-in- Ireland public review process in 2017.
She currently works with the Education and Public Engagement team in Science Foundation Ireland and acts as National Contact Point for H2020 Science with and for Society (SwafS) programme, a European funding stream underpinned by the principles of responsible research and innovation.
