Ingrid Bezikofer is the Executive Director of the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) Europe, the European coordination office of the Jane Goodall Institute that she co-founded in 2015. JGI Europe aims at enhancing coordination and efficiency for the efforts, initiatives, resources and ambitions of all the Chapters of the Jane Goodall Institute and the Roots & Shoots program offices and volunteers in Europe.
Ingrid helped develop the Jane Goodall Institute in Belgium since 2012. JGI Belgium is focusing on spreading the Roots & Shoots programme fostering youth leadership and inspiring young people to change their attitude and behaviour to improve the environment and animal welfare. Besides, JGI Belgium also supports financially and raises awareness about chimpanzee conservation in Africa, especially in the Democratic republic of Congo, in Congo Brazzaville and Burundi.
Former high school teacher in sciences and environmental project manager in soil rehabilitation, Ingrid has a nearly 10 years’ experience in managing teams and projects, while sharing her passion for primates and the environment in an accessible way. Trained at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in chemistry, she also holds a Master in Environmental Sciences and Management (Université Catholique de Louvain).
