Martina is President of the Network for Sustainable Financial Markets, a global non-for-profit ESG think tank and social network for the next generation of sustainable finance experts. She is also the Founder of SI Partners Ltd, an independent consulting firm specializing in (extra) financial risk management, legal and compliance, research and analytics solutions.
Martina is a doctoral fellow at ICRMP UK, a visiting fellow at Henley Business School and a guest lecturer at University of Zurich. She teaches and trains industry professionals such as investors, corporates and regulators (e.g. the FCA) in risk management, compliance, sustainable finance, ESG and impact investing. She sits on a variety of sustainable finance working groups, advisory boards and panels to assess and report on the status of the market.
Over the last 2 decades, Martina has held a range of senior global research, strategy, product, advisory and business development roles. She has worked in ESG research, analytics and engagement roles at IHS Towers (PE-backed EM infra firm), S&P Global, Hermes EOS, MSCI ESG Research, and within product strategy at Lloyds Banking Group/Insight Investment, RBS Asset Management, F&C (BMO) and Deutsche Bank.
Martina is a former chair of the NED board - and nowadays a mentor - at the Global Thinkers Forum (GTF). She sits on the Advisory Board of the European Law Institute, Sedex’ Advisory Committee, the ESG Clarity Board (publishing house’s editorial board), is a member of the Institute of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (ICRS) and of the European Capital Markets Group Taskforce in Brussels, and has been part of UKSIF’s analyst committee board and ICMA’s (The Green Bond Principles) ‘Observer’ group. In addition, she has been a member of the Institute of Directors, an affiliate member of ICSA: The Governance Institute and is an alumni fellow of the German National Academic Foundation.
She is a writer, (academic) lecturer and presenter on sustainable investment and green finance themes and contributes regularly to industry and academic publications. Her recent work includes contributions to the latest FCA consultation on climate change impacts on financial services, UNEP FI’s Responsible Banking Principles consultation, the EU Commission’s/ECMI’s Sustainable Finance working groups on ESG research, integration, asset allocation and benchmarking, and the Sustainable Stock Exchanges’ and City of London’s taskforce reports on green finance and social impact reporting. Martina also forms part of the IIF (Washington)’s working group on sustainable finance policy management, TCFD and regulatory oversight. She also closely collaborates with the European Banking Federation and the Financial Conduct Authority UK, and various other investor, corporate and regulatory bodies.
Martina received the “ACE” Award for ESG product innovation by S&P Global in 2017, and was listed as a Top100 Influencer in tackling “Modern Slavery” in 2018. She is in charge of the direction and content for Bright Talk’s SDG webinar series (160,000 subscribers).
